Black Lives Matter

There is not one reason, excuse or combination of words to justify the murder of George Floyd by those four (now ex) Minnesota Police officers.

There has never been and never will be a justified reason for the murders of all the unarmed black men and women we have seen on film, and not seen on film, by the police.

There is no justification for so many white people to call the police on black people or other nationalities of colour for doing everyday normal things such as jogging, sleeping, walking, talking, shopping, breathing…. and the list goes on.

If the police are not white people’s personal security service, then why are they being used in this way by so many white people?

If the police in America, the UK and other countries which participated in the slave trade do not show bias towards white people then why are black people more likely to be stopped and searched, fined, arrested and murdered by them? Why are we always under suspicion?

Many white people will want to have a point of view on how black people should respond to acts of racism whether by the police or citizens, but they never take that point view from being in a black person’s skin rather than their shoes. How a black person may react to racism is always dependent upon whether the act was the first or last of their day. It’s never about how minor or major the actual situation is. This fact is never considered.

Don't resist.... Just comply...

In my opinion, it is because many white people have no understanding of their history other than what their country’s governments provide during their schooling.

Their white privilege allows them not to be continually affected by the disgusting atrocities by their ancestors but instead to benefit from them. Unless a white person makes a conscious choice to research and understand their history, the attitudes, opinions and mindset of many will not change.

The truth may be ugly, but it is required for collective change to be made and understanding of what black people are and have been going through.

Technology is putting the truth on film. Many white people can no longer ignore what some of their brothers and sisters are doing.

We are living in a world where every colour of human has an association, relationship, or appropriation of black culture in their life.

If the substance of what black people are and do is so powerfully impactful on every colour of human in the world then they should stand with us, be angry with us, empathise with us, shout with us, protest with us and most importantly help us to protect us from racism and injustice.

RACISM AND POLICE BRUTALITY MUST STOP NOW.

I urge you to be a part of the change you want to see.
